Got bags? Shiners? Let's talk undereye concealers!

There are so many concealers on the market so how do you pick the right one?  First, it depends on what you're trying to conceal and then you have to choose the right product for that job. The trickiest to conceal are dark undereye circles. Simply choosing a concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin tone will NOT do the trick. If it did I wouldn't be getting all these questions about how to conceal very dark shadows that are a result of genetics, allergies, lack of sleep, etc.

So what works? You have to use a corrector color. Most dark shadows have a purple to blue undertone and your yellow or olive based concealers will only make the area look gray.  Not cute! Depending on how dark the shadowing is and I realize it differs from day to day depending on how much sleep, water or what the pollen count is, you have to choose a peach to a very salmony almost orange corrector concealer shade. The darker the shadows the more orange tones you need. Sounds weird and crazy but it truely will correct the dark shadow and disappear into your skin. It's all based on Color Theory. Remember the Color Wheel from Art class? Yup, it works when it comes to makeup too!  It will not appear peachy/salmony on your skin. If it does you probably don't have as dark of a shadow as you think. Don't we all think our flaws are much worse than they truely are?

There are very few truely good corrector concealers. Here's some of my tried, tested & true faves (in no particular order):

#1 & The most versatile & least expensive is: Cinema Secrets corrector palette Kit#2:  https://www.camerareadycosmetics.com/proddetail.php?prod=CS-UltimateFoundationPalettes&cat=173                                                    You may think you don't want an entire palette but think again. Remember that your shadowing will vary and this will give you every possible option to mix and match.  Plus it's only $21.00 and will last you nearly forever. It's very concentrated so literally a few dots is all you need. #2 Cover FX Cream:                                                                                                                                                                             This is a great value set with all the essentials! This trio palette comes with 3 shades to mix and match as well as a talc-free loose setting powder that is all in one unit.  For undereye correcting you need the "C" series.                                        http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?=P237113&categoryId=C17220                                                                                         FYI...this product also comes in an individual compact. For medium dark circles try C40 and for darker skin tones as well as darkest undereye shadowing C60 is amazing! It's my "secret sauce". Amazing for melasma, age spots, port wine birth marks and great to conceal green tattoos too. Green is the toughest color to conceal!  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P191303&categoryId=C17220

#3 YSL's Touche Eclat in shade #3/Peach:                                                                                            http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P218431&categoryId=C15812                                                                                                 This is totally different than the previous concealers.  This offers far less opacity, aka coverage BUT it as a hybrid lightweight concealer and eye brightener in one it illuminates the eye area while it subtle corrects the dark shadowing.  Best of all, if you find that most concealers make you look 10 years older and/or they crease halfway through your day this is your must-have product. I literally layer this on over other concealers which works beautifully over the above products.  It doesn't crease, it doesn't slide and it doesn't age you! You can keep applying more throughout the day. It literally saves my life on set over and over again! Okay, it's pricey but it does last a very, very long time. It's a staple in my arsenal of emergency undereye rescue products.  FYI, Shade #1/original is amazing for highlighting all over the face and works over any type of foundation including powders and minerals. It won't cake! Amazing, magical stuff!

#4  Eve Pearl Magic Salmon Concealer:                                                                         http://www.camerareadycosmetics.com/products.php?cat=101                                                                                                        Created by the multi-Emmy Award Winning TV makeup artist, Eve Pearl.  I recommend this one for those with the darkest of the dark undereye shadows. Sure we all think we have it bad but this is for those of you who have tried everything and have been disappointed with products that only make your shadows look gray. This is the answer to your problems! If you try this product and it appears orangey on your skin congrats, YOU DO NOT HAVE VERY DARK SHADOWS! For those that truely do, don't fret! The color will disappear right into your skin taking the darkness away with it. It's all color theory and works like magic!

#5  It Cosmetics, Bye Bye Under Eye:                                                                                                                 http://itcosmetics.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flyer_it.tpl&product_id=183&category_id=31&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=111                            Award Winner for best concealer by TotalBeauty.com  It's not only long wearing, waterproof & an amazing undereye concealer, it can be used on most people (if the color works) as a foundation.  It's what I used on the featured cast members of the "Turbo Fire" workout videos from BeachBody.  Talk about a hard core, sweat drenched workout! This products held up under the intense cardio workouts and on a set with the hottest lighting i've ever personally experienced. It was like an incubator in there! I also have used it on other fitness models and trainers on shoots & it has never failed me!

Muah! XOXO Tiffany :)
